The 2013
Lexus GS is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, available in one trim
only, the Sedan. It's closest competitors include the Audi A4, the
Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Volkswagen Passat. It combine the sharp
driving dynamics of a sports sedan with the luxury, refinement and
quality come to expect from Toyota's luxury division. Rear-wheel drive,
a four-wheel double-wishbone independent suspension, and a luxurious
cabin are the key ingredients to this formula. Upon introduction,
the GS is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, I6, 220-horsepower engine
that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed
automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. It is a carryover
from 2003. 2013 Lexus GS series comes in two versions: the six-cylinder
GS 300 ($38,725) and the V8-powered GS 430 ($47,825).
Both are big, sophisticated luxury sedans that whisk four people along
in leather-and-wood-trimmed comfort. It has no peers for interior

for the driver and front passenger, very important because curtain
airbags can provide protection for the head and upper body in side
impacts.
